About Courtney Lynn Coffin the Person
Helping people is what I do best. My stepdad frequently told me to stop trying to be Florence Nightingale, because I can’t solve everyone’s problems. My response–that doesn’t mean I can’t try! Originally from Sparta, New Jersey, for anyone who’s heard of it or has had the opportunity to visit, it is the quint essential small town USA, not the Jersey Shore!! I may not have been born in Texas, but I got here as soon as I could.
Growing up, my family was the “Modern Family”. My parents were divorced by the time I reached middle school. By high school, both parents remarried and I had an adopted older brother, a biological younger brother, and a stepbrother who was only 5 days younger than my biological brother. A month after my sweet sixteen, my half sister was born. One year later, my half brother was born. It was a running joke in my family that if I ever had to do family tree for a school assignment, I should ask if I could make it a family vine instead.
I had always sworn off becoming an attorney because both of my parents were attorneys, but that all changed in college. I had an afternoon job at a Dallas Family Law firm, and discovered that there were other types of attorneys. Once I worked in Family Law, there was no turning back. Outside of work I love to travel and be outside. I look for any excuse to walk somewhere instead of drive. I love to smile and share laughs with friends and family.
My latest hobby is cake and cupcake decorating. I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to bake cakes for local hospice patients. There is no feeling like delivering a cake to a couple celebrating their 75th wedding anniversary or a cake to a patient who made it to her 101st birthday.
Interests- I love my sports teams. As an SMU Alum, I can almost guarantee you’ll find me on the Boulevard every home game in the fall. Sundays in the fall you’ll find me losing my voice as I cheer on/ scream at our Dallas Cowboys. I can’t forget Wednesday nights for dollar dogs at Ranger’s Stadium in the summer. Last but certainly not least, our World Champion Dallas Mavericks, I missed the parade last year so they better win again so I can go!
Other than watching sports, I love to play golf, water ski, snow ski, and Sunday brunch (for us Dallas residents, it might as well be a sport)
Favorite Destinations-Prague, Costa Rica, Steamboat, and NYC.
Favorite things- Dallas Sports teams, dogs, a good bourbon, and driving with the sunroof open and windows down.
